An Arkansas juvenile has been identified as the person responsible for a threatening social media post that prompted Darien High School to close this morning.

The post was specific to the high school.

Officials initially announced a two-hour delay but later decided to close the school for the day.

"The Darien Police Detective Division has identified a juvenile resident of the State of Arkansas as being responsible for a threatening social media post toward Darien High School. The post was made recently on Instagram and referenced a firearm," said a statement from Darien Police Department.

Darien detectives worked with Meta Platforms Inc., the FBI and the Connecticut Intelligence Center, and were able to trace the account of the post. Detectives are currently working with Arkansas Law Enforcement, and the juvenile is being questioned by Arkansas authorities.

Darien police also said in their release "there is no known credible threat to any school in Darien."
