Several area fire departments gave back to children who have serious burn injuries Wednesday.
Members of the Milford, Bridgeport, West Haven and Stratford fire departments presented a check for over $5,000 to the Art Luf Children's Burn Camp.
The free camp, which is part of the Connecticut burns care foundation, provides a summer experience for children ages 8 to 17 from around the world who have sustained burn injuries.
The departments created and sold hats to raise the money.
The foundation's director says he and the campers are grateful for the donation.
"Once you meet these children, they change your life. They didn't ask for this. It just occurred through an accident or other means. These children just need love, understanding and a place to just be a kid," says Dominic Mantuano.
The donation will help send up to five kids to camp.
