Backyard bird watching is on the rise among those stuck at home during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Wild Birds of Fairfield's co-owner Chris Petherick says there are some benefits to bird watching that some may not even consider.
"Watching birds has been shown to help with anxiety," Petherick says.
April in Connecticut is a massive migration period for birds, he says.
"We are already getting reports of the ruby throated hummingbirds, there is a lot of color, a lot of activity, it is just a lot of fun," Petherick says.
Petherick says you do not need to own an estate to enjoy bird watching, but feathered friends gravitate to goodies so you might need some seed feeders.
"A lot of these birds that are passing through for migration are looking for a stopover to refuel and keep moving north so a small birdfeeder."
