The Bigelow Center for Senior Activities in Fairfield reopened today after being closed for a year and a half due to the pandemic.
Seniors gathered at the center today to celebrate.
"We're excited, we've done a lot of work in the building, we've cleaned up, we've reorganized. And we've decided we're going to make this the best day we can possibly make for the seniors to come back," human services director Julie DeMarco said.
Seniors were greeted with balloons as they were let back inside the building.
Classes are once again available, but members must sign up in advance.
Officials
say the cafeteria inside the center will also remained closed for the time
being, but lunch outdoors sill be offered on Fridays.
