The Fairfield-based Bigelow tea company hosted its annual Community Challenge Saturday.
The tea brand started the road race 32 years ago. Since 1987, Bigelow has raised more than $1.6 million for 22 local charities.
Saturday’s event included a 5K and a 3K fitness walk. There were close to 800 participants.
Herman Bershtein, 94, has run every race since the first year and is a friend of the Bigelow family. He says David Bigelow was in his Yale class of 1949.
It’s estimated that this year’s event raised more than $150,000.
