WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
WHAT'S NEW: Temperatures were 20 degrees below average Sunday. That will continue into Sunday night. No record lows are expected but much of Litchfield County should be below 0 degrees. It'll be close to 10 degrees south of the Merritt Parkway.
WHAT'S NOW: Clear and frigid. Temperatures will fall into the teens quickly after dark. People should know to bundle up when outdoors and be aware of icy spots from the snow on Saturday.
WHAT'S NEXT: It will be frigid out during the morning, staying in the single digits until the end of the morning rush hour for most of Western Connecticut. Monday will be below 30 degrees for high temperatures. A weak storm system will pass after. This will bring light snow in two rounds. First round will be from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m., mainly in Litchfield County, and then 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. for all of Western Connecticut. Accumulations should be coatings of up to 2 inches.
Temperatures will slowly moderate into the holiday week. However, it'll be in the 30s until Friday. The weekend then looks mostly dry. The biggest forecast question will be does high pressure hold on long enough for a fully dry weekend? Or will rain come Sunday?
