State authorities say they are moving a black bear to a wooded area after he was seen roaming several New Haven neighborhoods before heading onto I-91.
They say the bear was almost 400 pounds and they were worried it would be hit by drivers on the busy highway.
State environmental experts and New Haven police say they were able to contain the bear to a wooded area between some homes near an entrance ramp for I-91 last night.
They were then able to tranquilize the animal.
Police say they placed a trampoline under the tree to break the bear's fall.
