Firefighters fought off a fire early this morning in Bridgeport.

It happened just after 1 a.m. on John Street on the first floor of a two-story building.

The Subway restaurant at the corner of John and Main streets sustained a significant amount of fire and smoke damage.

There are no reports of any injuries and there is no word yet on what started the fire.
