A man was arrested in Waterbury in connection to a double murder that happened in New Haven on Aug. 25.
Stamford attorney Darnell Crosland says he is representing Sergio Thomas, who was taken into custody by New Haven police on Friday.
The shooting on Dickerman Street left 26-year-old Daiquan Hyman, of East Haven, dead at the scene and 32-year-old Ernest Williams, of New Haven, critically injured. Williams later died at the hospital.
Crosland says the allegations involve a gun battle between multiple individuals.
He says Thomas is a licensed armed security guard and described him as "highly respected."
Police initially said they were looking for three male suspects after an argument led to the shooting.
Crosland says Thomas's family is devastated and seeking justice.
Thomas is being held on $3 million bond and is scheduled to be arraigned today.
