James Fitzgerald, a 6-year-old kindergarten student, died Saturday morning after a battle with brain cancer.

The superintendent of Region 6 Schools shared in a letter that the Goshen Central School student passed away after his courageous fight.

James was known for his love of superheroes and was a beloved member of the community.

Grief counselors will be available to students, parents, and staff at the school on Monday.
