Traveling between Shelton and Derby just got a lot easier.

A three-year rehab to the bridge connecting the towns is now open. There are new lights and bicycle lanes.

"This was kind of like a no-brainer. Hey, let's position this thing so it fits in with everything else that we've been doing in our respective downtowns," said Mayor Mark Lauretti (R) Shelton.

Several hundred new apartments have gone up on both sides of the Housatonic River and a multimillion-dollar upgrade is planned for the Derby Metro-North station.
