The Bridgeport Board of Education said Wednesday it may have to close two elementary schools.
The board says it needs more money to keep the schools open because it is faced with a zero budget increase from the state and the city.
Interim schools Superintendent Fran Rabinowitz says it would be heartbreaking to have to close the Hall and Edison schools.
Rabinowitz says the board may have no choice unless the district can come up with $15 million in the next fiscal year.
Parents say the Edison school has already done so much for their children and say teachers have even paid to make sure their students have school supplies.
Close to 300 children attend the school.
Rabinowitz says a decision will have to come soon. The fiscal year starts July 1.
