Bridgeport Board of Education members held a meeting Tuesday to discuss who will replace Interim Superintendent Fran Rabinowitz when she leaves the position on Dec. 30.
Rabinowitz says board members are late with the discussion, and she would ideally like to have two weeks to help the new interim superintendent transition into his or her position before she leaves next month.
Board members say they are looking for someone to fill the role for about three to six months until they find a permanent superintendent. Their plan of action is to appoint an interim from a pool of qualified internal candidates.
Rabinowitz tells News 12 that she hopes the board will be able to rally behind the new interim superintendent. She has previously said that disputes with some board members were what led her to resign.
Board members said the new interim superintendent will begin on Dec. 12. They add he or she will able to apply to become the permanent superintendent, although he or she will not be part of that search.
