Two young entrepreneurs from Bridgeport are hoping the public will help them so they can help others.
Ryan Sullivan and Jeff Zager, creators of Heartwork Apparel Company, have formed a Kickstarter campaign for their Bridgeport-based business.
They say their goal is to make the act of giving back a "fashion statement" and turn their clothing startup into a lifestyle brand based on its name, creative expression and a spirit of giving.
Having met at church when they were 8 years old, Sullivan and Zager say the heart of their business is based on the biblical principle of giving. The two friends donate 10 percent of their quarterly earnings to charities throughout the area. Heartwork's first quartly contribution was to the Bridgeport Rescue Mission, where they and their supporters donated 1,200 pounds of food for Thanksgiving.
Sullivan and Zager say to do more, they will need more investors for their clothing line and business plan.
