State and local leaders remembered the life of a Bridgeport woman who was known for giving back to her community this weekend.
Evadney Collins, 74, was famous for fostering more than 50 kids over the years and helped them stay in school.
Hundreds attended her funeral Friday.
Collins' son says his mom opened her home to many people and never turned away a stranger.
"She was a foster parent, she took foster kids in and she took care of them. She would take anybody off the street, and help them out that's the type of person she was," said Keonte Collins.
"She would literally take you off the streets, and do anything to help you. She would always call me and get on me about what did I need to do, what I could do to become better," said Deztiny Bellido.
Mayor Joe Gamin described Collins as giant in the community "whose legacy will be the countless lives she touched through her tireless work."'
