The family of a Bridgeport man who was fatally shot in Norwalk back in 2011 held a vigil Wednesday in his memory.
Iroquos Alston, 27, and his close friend, 22-year-old Rickita Smalls, were both fatally shot three years ago in Norwalk. Police are still investigating the shootings, and no arrests have been made.
Alston's family held a memorial service for him at St. John's Episcopal Church in Bridgeport. The family went through another crisis recently when a fire destroyed part of their home on Exeter Street.
Alston's mother and children will be holding a back-to-school backpack giveaway this month in memory of Alston. His mother says he was a strong believer in the importance of education.
