Bridgeport firefighters handed out free radon detectors Friday.
Officials say they have received a limited supply of radon test kits that were donated to them by the state.
The kits allow residents to test for radon gas in their homes.
Officials say they are focusing on residents in the North end of the city, where radon gas is most likely to be found.
Dep. Chief Lance Edwards says radon gas can be toxic if it goes undetected.
