PSEG Power Connecticut held a graduation ceremony at their Bridgeport Harbor Station Wednesday afternoon for 13 students who will move on to five-year apprenticeships.
During their training, the students learned about different building trades and are now qualified to work in construction throughout the state.
Amy Blackwood, executive director of Building Pathways of Connecticut, said, “Many of them said they wanted to have hands-on type work; they said they’ve been interested in construction their whole lives. For the women in particular, they didn't think they were eligible to apply, and they bring a new dynamic to construction in Connecticut.”
This is the third class to graduate from the program, administered by Bridgeport’s workforce development agency.
