A group that formed last fall at a Bridgeport beach has gone international - and the women behind it say it's all because of the power of prayer.
Minister Donna Stewart-Eagles says a small group of women went to Seaside Park to pray on Oct. 4.
Now, she's one of 1,600 women who make up
Sisters at the Shore - which has members from five different countries.
Stewart-Eagles says the women pray in silence for 20 minutes a day.
Thayer Ebron-Barkley founded the group and says that it will break tradition this Saturday at 9 a.m. at Seaside Park for Purses for a Purpose - where members will hand out purses filled with essentials for those in need.
They are filling the handbags with donations through Saturday to show love and support to the community.
