The city of Bridgeport held a moment of silence Thursday for the victims of the mass shooting in San Bernardino, California.
Mayor Joe Ganim brought together people of many faiths for a noon vigil in an effort to illustrate the diversity of the city, and to send a clear message that anti-Muslim sentiment will not be tolerated.
By standing together, Ganim says Bridgeport's residents are sending a powerful message to the community that hope and unity will always triumph over hatred and division.
The mayor says that his city is no stranger to gun violence, and the mass shooting could have easily happened there as well.
