A Bridgeport home care agency says while business is slowly getting back to normal, the coronavirus pandemic has changed health care forever.
Patty Newton Foster is the owner of Newton Foster Homecare Agency and Danae's Training Center, which provides both CNA services and specialized training for workers using state and federal dollars.
She says it's great to be open and doing business, with the first priority being to keep the families she serves and her staff protected from coronavirus. Newton Foster says as the head of a home care agency that sends health care professionals into the homes of seniors, the pandemic has led to a drop-off in business.
Back in February, Newton Foster's agency had just graduated its latest class of CNAs, and for them the timing couldn't have been worse. She says many of those graduates are finally getting work.
Newton Foster says she's following all the safety protocols, but she is not yet willing to unshutter the office part of her business.
She says that despite tough times, she will prevail.
Newton Foster says she'll soon be starting a CNA training program at Central High School for adult education; a process that's finally getting back on track thanks to Phase Two.
