Residents in Bridgeport will see new weekend walking patrols at the Greene Homes and in other neighborhoods.

Police officials said the foot patrols are part of an effort to increase visibility and build stronger relationships with the community.

Mayor Joe Ganim said the patrols reflect what constituents have asked for and encouraged residents to engage with officers.

He said the goal is to promote a positive view of law enforcement through community policing.
