Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch hosted a luncheon at City Hall Wednesday to remember the victims of a deadly Dec. 7 fire.
The blaze ripped through three buildings on Fairfield Avenue and took the lives of Artulo Iselo, his wife Anayel and their 1-year-old son, Omar. The couple?s two older sons escaped the flames by leaping from a second-story window. In all, more than 20 people were left homeless by the blaze.
The mayor invited the displaced families to the luncheon, as well as the family of the deceased to show the city?s support. Finch says as a father of four, the tragedy hit home for him. He also says the fire revealed the limits of city government and he wishes the city could do more to help fire victims.
He also took the opportunity to promote the use of smoke detectors in homes.
Meanwhile, the fire chief says the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
