Police say a Bridgeport man opened fire on an intruder in his home early this morning.
Investigators say that Manuel Echevarria found a man standing in the kitchen of his North Avenue home at around 2 a.m. Echevarria says he confronted the intruder and then opened fire on the man, who escaped with a stolen wallet.
Police say Echevarria will not face any charges in connection with the shooting as his gun was properly licensed. Officials say that residents who believe there is an intruder in their home should call police first.
