The head of a Black-owned mental health rehab center in Bridgeport promoted behavior health Sunday as part of Minority Mental Health Awareness Month.
Deolu Kolade of the New Era Rehabilitation Center said it is important for communities of color to embrace the common-sense benefits of treatment.
"If you are feeling down or if you're feeling depressed, or you're feeling anxious or if you have any internal traumas that you may be dealing with, it's absolutely fine to go seek help and get help when you need it," Kolade said "There's nothing wrong with it. It's something that is completely human. It's something that is natural to all of us. In fact, it's probably the most basic part of the human condition."
New Era Rehab Center located at 4675 Main St.
