Bridgeport officials visited churches and food pantries today to bring some holiday cheer to people in need.
Mayor Joe Ganim led the delegation on its first delivery of the day at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.
They dropped off boxes of toys and 100 turkeys in advance of the church's Christmas community lunch on Monday.
Church officials said the donations are the only hope some families have of celebrating the holidays.
Bridgeport officials said they would visit 14 more churches and food pantries throughout the day, bringing food and toys contributed by Bridgeport residents as well as the Marilyn Goldstone Foundation.
