A neighbor's unleashed pit bulls attacked and killed a Bridgeport couple's pet Yorkshire terrier, police say.
Jerome and Margaret Davis say they've lived on the city's East Side for 25 years without incident until March 9 when two of their neighbor's dogs charged through their closed front gate and mauled Jacob, their treasured Yorkie.
The Davis family says Jacob suffered massive internal injuries, and their vet recommended putting him to sleep.
"Part of us has been taken away from us and I want justice," said Margaret Davis.
Democratic Town Committee member Charlie Coviello lives in the same neighborhood and is calling on police to have Animal Control impound the dogs that killed Jacob.
Police say Animal Control officers are investigating the incident, but have not yet been able to make contact with the dog's owner.
