The Bridgeport chief of police gave his State of the Department address on Tuesday.
Chief Roderick Porter says the department has seen a decrease in shootings.
"Our shootings are down, and our shooting victims are down, so that's encouraging news, and the last couple of months I have seen a trend in our crime stats, and they're trending down," said Roderick.
The chief also noted the department will focus on the federally funded project
"Safe Neighbor" in order to help keep the community safe.
He says they'll continue to prioritize transparency, communication, and education.
Chief Roderick said the department will look into new technology and hiring more officers for the upcoming year.
