Bridgeport parents went back to school Wednesday night to find out more about the city?s new redistricting plan.

About 35 people attended the public hearing at the Luis Munoz Marin School, which was held to field questions and concerns from parents.

The plan, released Monday, calls for one school to be closed and five new ones to be opened. Administrators say parents haven?t had a chance to familiarize themselves with the plan yet, especially the benefits.

The district says the plan will result in smaller class sizes, technologically advanced buildings and more resources. Parents questioned whether the plan will improve the quality of their children?s education.

The school system?s budget is due at the end of February, which means the board of education must approve the plan before that.

Administrators say other informational meetings for parents will be held.
