Bridgeport residents voiced their outrage Tuesday after dozens of ATV riders were caught on camera illegally cruising throughout the city over the weekend.
Police say they arrested nine of those riders, including some from southwestern Connecticut.
They say they found the trailers that transported the dirt bikes parked at the top of Clearview Drive. Authorities say they waited for the riders to return, arrested them and confiscated their bikes.
Avid riders like cycle shop owner Mark Fabrizi say that what happened was extremely dangerous, but having nowhere to ride is a recipe for disaster to strike again.
"The state allocates property for hunters, fishermen and boaters, but there's no allocated property for recreational ATV, motocross or motorcycle off-road riders," said Fabrizi.
Bridgeport police are asking for the public's help in tracking down dirt bike owners in the city. They say they want to remind riders of the rules and ultimately prevent this problem from happening again.
