Bridgeport schools will have to make some serious cutbacks after a budget was approved with less money for the district.
The Board of Education had asked the City Council for $14 million. However, the Council voted Monday on a budget that includes less than what it requested. The district will now receive $6.7 million from the city and state.
Education officials say they will now look at the district?s budget and make the appropriate cuts. Some cost-cutting options include shortening kindergarten to half-day classes and slashing extra-curricular activities.
