Bridgeport Interim Superintendent of Schools Fran Rabinowitz will stay in the Park City.
The school board voted earlier this week to extend her contract through June 2017.
City officials say Rabinowitz then notified the governor that she no longer wished to be considered for the state education commissioner position.
Rabinowitz was hired last year as a temporary replacement for Paul Vallas.
