The four-day music festival known as ?The Gathering of the Vibes? kicks off in Seaside Park Thursday.
Tens of thousands are expected to attend throughout the weekend. Many music lovers brought the necessary supplies for a four-day stay.
People started gathering early Thursday morning, trying to find ideal spots to camp out.
Organizers say the event was put together after The Grateful Dead?s Jerry Garcia passed away in 1995. It has since grown into a music, camping and arts festival.
One veteran attendee says she returns for the nice people and great music. ?It?s a great weekend, ? says Sarah Ewan, of Colchester. She has been attending the festival for about 10 years.
This year's acts include Dark Star Orchestra, George Clinton and the P-Funk All-Stars and Deep Banana Blackout.
