A Bridgeport veteran says he is fighting to get his social security benefits restored after he says they were wrongfully terminated.
Army veteran Tracy Blackwell told News 12 Connecticut he lives on a fixed income and can't make ends meet without his monthly social security check.
He says his benefits were cut off earlier this year because a part-time job he got at the V.A. put him a few dollars over the threshold allowed by the government.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal said the Social Security Administration should simply have notified Blackwell and given him a chance to fix the problem instead of just cutting off his income.
Blumenthal says he will contact the administration and will try to get the problem resolved.
The Social Security Administration did not respond to News 12 Connecticut's request for comment.
