A Bronx school and a Bronx college are working together to create a new teaching method. Bank Street College supplies partnering schools, like P.S. 156 on Concourse Village West, with a teacher from the college to create a curriculum that focuses on the needs of the children. The college takes care of the costs to teach children through fun activities. They also provide a staff member to hold workshops and train teachers about the new curriculum. A representative from Bank Street College comes to P.S. 156 and three other Bronx schools two to three times a month to interact with the teachers and children. College officials says schools in poverty-ridden areas with high needs have a hard time sustaining teachers. They say their goal is to help train strong teachers who want to be there.
