Stamford police officials say their crime fighting skills have been ineffective in fighting a new menace: disease-carrying bugs inside their headquarters.
Officials say Chief Brent Larrabee and three other officers have been treated with antibiotics, but medical tests revealed that two officers were infected with Lyme disease and a third with encephalitis.
Larrabee also fell ill and suffered from body aches after he was bitten on the right shoulder. An exterminator was called in Monday to begin fumigating the building.
