Part of a building on East 184th Street came crashing to the ground Tuesday.
Officials say the parapet fell from a five-story building at 153 East 184th St. around 5 a.m.
Neighbors say they heard a loud boom outside near Creston Avenue.
The Department of Buildings says the extension of the roof fell down. It did not provide an explanation as to why it fell, however, neighbors say they believe weather may have been a factor.
Officials say a violation was issued at the building in the past and that they will be moving scaffolding into the area.
Officials say no one was injured by the falling debris, but they are taking extra measures to ensure those who live in the area will be safe from any possible falling debris in the future.
