With the two-year anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings coming up this weekend, one young woman from Weston is looking to bring people together in remembrance.
After the Dec. 2012 shootings, 23-year-old Kristen Smith and her sister decided to light 26 candles and place them outside their home to show their support.
This year, Smith shared her idea with friends on Facebook, and so far she's made more than 500 mason jar angel candles that other people will be lighting to honor the victims on Sunday.
Smith says she has funded the project mostly on her own, but she doesn't mind the investment if it means one more person will light a candle along with her.
