Cannons blast house for Bridgeport home makeover

A Bridgeport home was demolished Friday as one of America's hottest television shows moved in to help a family. After hours of anticipation, cannons were fired through the front door of 285 Hollister Avenue, setting the scene for the demolition. It took less than 10 minutes for a demo team to break apart Gloria Briown?s house. Briown was left homeless after a fast-moving fire ripped through her family's home. The house was also in disarray after severe flooding. Producers say the show's success relies heavily on the goodwill of others. In addition to nearly 100 volunteers, Lillian August in Norwalk donated more than $60,000 worth of furniture for Briown?s new home.
