Since it was rescued two decades ago, the Avon Theatre in Stamford has been operating as a nonprofit bringing independent, art, foreign language, classic films and documentaries to the big screen.
The Avon Theatre opened in 1939 making it the go-to destination to catch a movie. The center combines a historical ambiance and personal service along with the movie-going experience it has been known for.
They also so Q&A sessions with directors, actors and more to stand out from other local theaters.
One of the great things about the Avon in terms of its location is Bedford Street is a true downtown with a lot of restaurants and bars around in the area.
The Oscar-nominated Film Festival at the theater runs through February. A third screen is coming to soon as well
