Dozens of residents are displaced from a Stratford apartment building following a fire that left it heavily damaged.
The fire at 1168 Main St. required all on-duty crews to respond. The Stratford Fire Department reported 22 firefighters on scene.
Upon arrival, crews entered the back of the building and searched for any residents still inside. They said there was heavy smoke, and the fire had extended to two additional apartments.
One resident was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. Video of the fire shared with News 12 showed intense flames pouring out of an apartment window.
Firefighters said the entire building has sustained significant damage and all residents have been misplaced. They said up to 75 people lived in the building in 36 apartments.
The American Red Cross said it will provide support to the displaced residents. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Stratford Fire Marshal's office.
