Police in Fairfield are asking for the public's help in finding the man who they say robbed a home on the town's east side.
Surveillance cameras at DeSantie Tire recorded the suspect from across the street.
According to police, the man in the video broke into a home Saturday morning on Moody Street and took some jewelry from an upstairs bedroom.
A worker at DeSantie Tire says the same man first came into the tire store and asked for a cup of water.
"It's surprising," says Steven Patrick, the worker. "It's broad daylight. Who thinks that anything is going to happen during the day?"
Mike Paris, of the Fairfield Police Department, says daytime burglaries are common.
"People will just knock on a door or ring a doorbell to see if they get an answer," he says. "If not, they'll go and try to enter the house."
Police describe the suspect as a Hispanic man in his 30s with a medium build, short dark hair and tattoos on his left arm. The man was wearing khaki cargo pants, a gray short-sleeve shirt and boots. Boot prints were also found at the scene.
