The Bright Horizons Foundation for Children has teamed up with Bridgeport's Refocus Outreach Ministry to provide some homeless children a place to stay.
The children come from homes in which their mothers are recovering from various addictions. The location is called Bright Space, and the program gives the kids a sense of normalcy and routine during a difficult time in their lives.
Bright Space is designed to provide the children a warm and enriching area to play and learn. Danielle Otterspoor, Bright Horizon's assistant director, was instrumental in making Bright Space possible.
"It's a home away from home where they have the opportunity to grow, learn and just be kids," she says.
Children who move into Bright Space can live there for up to 18 months. Bright Space occupies the third floor of the Refocus Outreach Ministry. There children will find a learning environment filled with educational toys.
