A woman called police after hearing someone call out for their "daddy" near a Fairfield school, but it turned out the calls were coming from a vocal bird.
Fairfield police say the woman heard the calls near Holland Hill Elementary School on Thursday. She began looking for a child in distress, but instead found Ralphie the parrot.
Ralphie's owner Christopher Gerbasi says Ralphie was out on the deck with him last Saturday when three fire trucks drove by and startled him.
The fire department helped get the talkative bird down. Officials called Gerbasi, who went down and identified him.
Gerbasi says the bird likely heard his daughter calling him "daddy" and decided to mimic it.
The spot where the bird was found was about a mile from its home.
