Chef's Quick Tips: Pecan crusted goat cheese
This week, Chef David Foster ,a personal chef, shows Tina Redwine how to make pecan crusted goat cheese .
1/4 lb goat cheese
2 Tbsp honey
1 cup ground nuts
2 Tbsp vegetable oil
2 Tbsp lemon rum
Soften the goat cheese and mix in the honey thoroughly. Form a puck out of the cheese and dredge in the ground nut making sure to completely cover the cheese. Place in the freezer for 10 to 15 minutes to firm it up. Heat a cast iron skillet on medium with the oil until it starts to smoke a bit. Gently place the cheese in the hot oil being careful not to splash yourself. After about 10 to 15 seconds flip the cheese over, again being careful. Wait 10 seconds and, this is the fun part, splash the pan with the rum and set a match to it. WHOOSH! Please watch that you don't set yourself or any of your friends on fire. Garnish with bread and apple slices and enjoy
