Clarkstown police display decals on patrol cars in honor of World Autism Awareness Day

The Clarkstown Police Department helped to raise awareness for autism by displaying decals on all its patrol vehicles.
Friday marks World Autism Awareness Day.
Autism now affects about 1 in 54 children and is much more prevalent in boys than girls, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Some children with autism may face communication or mobility obstacles.
Experts say you can help eliminate the stigma of autism by showing your support, understanding and acceptance. People are encouraged to take a selfie wearing something blue and post it to social media with the hashtag #WorldAutismDay or #LightItUpBlue.
