Cleanup continues Friday after powerful storms hit western Connecticut during the evening commute.
The weather brought trees and wires down around the region.
The storm was brief but strong with residents reporting hail, pounding rain, gusting winds, and lightning.
The storm also caused power outages including near Fairfield University and substantial delays for Metro North trains.
Eversource is reporting about 400 power outages across the state, down from the thousands at the height of the storm.
Fairfield resident Rich Fisco said, “We noticed it started to get really dark and then heard a bunch of branches cracking, a couple limbs came down. Looks like one of the trees in the backyard kind of split and the next thing we knew the power went off, the road was closed, we heard a bunch of commotion outside and hail was hitting everywhere. It was really loud, it was pretty crazy.”
