Commuters in Bridgeport were able to get their ashes on the way to work this Ash Wednesday.

Clergy from three downtown churches offered "Ashes to Go" at the Bridgeport train station.

Organizers say this gives people who couldn't make it to church a chance to celebrate Ash Wednesday.

"We're at the train station to say 'Hey God is with you, no matter who you are, no matter what you've done, you are loved, there is grace for you,'" said the Rev. Sara Smith, Esq. of United Congregational Church. "So the ashes are just a sign to remember 'Oh I'm marked and loved by God.'"

Ash Wednesday marks the start of the holy season of Lent--a time of reflection and repentance before the celebration of Easter.
