Hillary Clinton spoke to her supporters Wednesday morning, formally conceding the presidency to Donald Trump.
Clinton said she was sorry about the outcome, and that the election shows there is a lot of work to be done to heal the divided nation.
"We have seen that our nation is more deeply divided than we thought, but I still believe in America and I always will. And if you do, we must accept this result, and then look to the future," said Clinton.
Shortly after Clinton spoke, President Barack Obama addressed the nation from the White House.
President Obama promised that his administration will provide a smooth transition process for Trump, despite their differences.
President Obama also said he will host the president-elect at the White House Thursday, and said now that the election is over, it is time for the nation to unite behind its new leader.
