- TRACKING THE TROPICS: Tropical Storm Humberto will strengthen to a hurricane later today as it moves Northwest. It will become a major hurricane this weekend. It currently poses no direct threat to the US, but high rip currents are likely at the beaches next week. There's currently a tropical wave near Tropical storm Humberto that has a high chance of developing in the next few days. This system will bring heavy rain and gusty winds to Haiti, Turks and Caicos the Bahamas and Dominican Republic over the next few days. We'll continue to monitor these storms to see if they pose any threat to the U.S. by next week. Coastal impacts along the east coast could be a concern by the middle of next week.
